Red, White & Blue Christmas

When you have challenges they are meant to take you outside of your comfort zone and this week at Holly Jolly we are challenge you go very Non-Traditional.

Our challenge is for you to make a Christmas project using:

Red, White and Blue

You know when every I say those colours I think of the rhyme at school which goes:

Red, White and Blue the boys kiss you…. LOL

Oh the things you randomly remember!

But back to the challenge, everyone one on the Design Team has created something totally different and I for my card I have mainly used Red and White with just a touch of blue.

The layout of my card is inspired by the current Less is More challenge, so I have gone very CAS.

Here is my card

HJ Embossing with Ribbon

This week’s challenge at Holly Jolly is hosted by me and I have chosen the theme challenge to be

Embossing with Ribbon.

The embossing can be dry embossing or heat set embossing and ribbon well we all have ribbon that we find in our stash.

So I would love to see you join us and get a start on your Christmas cards too!

For my card I have heat embossed my Christmas Tree image with clear embossing powder.  I first stamped in Island Indigo Ink and then quickly added the clear embossing powder.

You can see the how the image is darker with the embossing powder because the sentiment Season’s Greeting is just stamped in the Island Indigo ink.

The layout for my card was inspired by an older sketch at Sketchbook Saturday.  Love the Clean and Simple look of the design.

Here is my card:

Cheeky Christmas

Just a quick post to share a card I created for the new Holly Jolly Challenge which is Humorous Christmas.

This challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo and I have used one of their images to create this simple but Humorous card.

I have gone with a mixture of traditional colours Gumball Green & Cherry Cobbler but teamed it up with Midnight Muse.  Sounds different but I am happy with the combo which just happened by fluke.

I have used some of the Satin Gumball Green Ribbon and the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  Plus just one Rhinestone.

Children’s Birthday Wishes

Hello, hope you have had a great Sunday.

We have a beautiful day here in Sydney with lovely sunshine, light breeze – almost Spring like.

Our new challenge over at Come and Get It is Children’s Birthday cards and it is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.

I have used one of the Sponsor’s images and I have gone for a bright and happy card.

I raided my stash and found some bright paper I had brought ages and ages ago and teamed it with some retired SU paper.

I have been spending the afternoon playing with water colouring and have used my Watercolor Pencils to colour in my image.  It is a shame the Pencils are being discontinued, I am just getting used to using them.

Inkspirational Photo Challenge

Hi everyone,

Well we have a wonderful new Photo Challenge over at Inkspirational.

I have gone very pink in my card and created the background on the Very Vanilla Cardstock by adding marker colours to a clear block with some water.  I haven’t used my markers for a while so it was good to try a few different colours to see what created the best background.

It took a few goes to get the right background but I like the one I eventually settled on.

The image is from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set and has been stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.

The lovely ribbon is the Two-Tone Ribbon Pink Pirouette/ Rose Red.

Here is my card

CCC - Not Square

Ok it is Wednesday and time to share the new challenge details over at Crafty Creations.

This week we would like to see anything but squares!

I have decided to create a box, rectangular no square and I created this box using the Scallop Envelope Die, which is just so versatile!

Anyway I found this box at Paulies Papier and also pinned it on Pinterest here is the link.

I have added my little spin on the box and added some of the Tea for Two DSP to the sides and used the Scallop Circle Punch.

Here is a side view of the box

CAGI Sketch

Over at Come and Get It, Judy is hosting our new challenge which is a sketch challenge.

If you are a frequent visitor to my blog you will know that I love butterflies and they appear on most of my creations.

Well Judy’s sketch inspired me to use butterflies but I have used the new Bitty Butterfly Punch to my butterflies this time.

I have also used a sheet of the DSP from the Print Poetry papers and cut it out to create this little border.

The colours I have used Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit and these colours all appear in the Print Poetry Papers pack.

The background stamp is the En Francais which has been stamped in Midnight Muse ink and the sentiment stamp is from one of the stamps from recent Sale-a-Bration called Vintage Verses.

Christmas Music

Hi everyone,

Back to normal after the Easter break which was lovely and sharing a new challenge over at Holly Jolly this week.

This week we would love you to add some Christmas Music to your project.

I do not have any Christmas music stamps so I went and had a look on line and found a music sheet image for “Hark The Herald Angels Sing”.  Unfortunately I cannot remember the exact address but the image is perfect for the challenge.

I tried to get that sort vintage look with some Soft Suede ink and dauber.  The baby image is a retired stamp set called First Christmas.

I have added a button, some bling, thread, lace and a ribbon also.  I felt I needed something more so I found some white lace I have had for ages and daubered Soft Suede ink to change the colour.

Here is my card:
