Flowers and Butterflies

Hi everyone,

Wow, I am back from Convention and it has been a great couple of days.  I caught up with lots of people, made some new friends and got some great new ideas.

But for now I am helping my daughter complete an assignment and getting ready for the next week – it does not take long to fall back into the ‘normal’ routine :)

Its time for the new weekly challenge at Come and Get It and it has to be one of my favourite combinations – Flowers and Butterflies.

If you haven’t had a chance to participate in any of the challenges yet – give this one ago and if you need some inspiration pop over to the CAGI blog and have a look at what the other Design Team Members have created.

For my card I have used Soft Suede for the base card and I stamped some of the flowers from the Field Flowers stamp set on Very Vanilla.

I have used my markers Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves and stems of the flowers and the flowers are created using two step stamps. My colours are Bashful Blue and Marina Mist.

My butterflies of course have been created using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and they have been layered together in a combination of Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Very Vanilla cardstock.

The Color Spritzer Tool has been used with Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight markers to add a little bit of colour.

A scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock has been punched out using the Modern Label punch and stamped with ‘for you’ and this sentiment is from the Clearly For You stamp set.  I have also added a vintage brad to one end and daubered with Soft Suede.

The top of the card and down one side has been torn and the edges rolled and I added some retired Soft Suede Ribbon along the bottom of the card.

Here is my card:

For You

Hi everyone how was your weekend?

Mine was great!  I caught up with a friend of mine I have know since were 5 years old and every time we catch up it is wonderful.

Our children all played together and it was nice to get away for the weekend.  I think sometimes we forget to stop and just enjoy times like this.

That was my weekend but now on to the card I have created for two challenges.

The sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary and the current Play Date Cafe Challenge.

Create Sketches Square-011

From the picture inspiration at the Play Date Cafe I have used Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and and Very Vanilla.

I have used Riding Hood Red for the base of my card and I have also used some of the Botanical Gazette DSP from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

Supplies:

Stamp set: Nature Walk, Clearly for You

Card: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive Very Vanilla
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz

Accessories:  3/8” (1cm) Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, SNAIL Adhesive

I used a dauber to add a touch of Cherry Cobbler to the edges of the DSP.

I love the image of the butterfly on the DSP, they just seem to be flying in the background.

Thanks for visiting again, please come back soon.

Until next time keep creating…. Meg x

It’s Black & White with a Splash of Green

Hi everyone,

How was your weekend?  Hope your week is off to a good start!

I did go to the movies with my Mum and saw “Water for Elephants” – it was a very good movie but I the circus master was a very cruel man!

I know that they say that the book in normally better than the movie but for this movie I do not believe I could read the book.  I must say the elephant in the movie was beautiful – as beautiful an elephant can be !

On to crafty things and I have a card to share with you.

The colours have been inspired by the challenge at The Play Date Cafe – It’s Black and White with a touch of Green.

The sketch layout was from Sketch Frenzy Friday – this sketch has closed but I liked the simplicity of it:

I have used Basic Black for the base of the card and I have embossed the Whisper White in the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.
